This list not include everything you need know for conference day, but it should get you and your team off to a great start!

  1. Make sure you and your Advisors summited all registration requirements (before the February 5th deadline) & find our your schools country assignments using our Country Matrix. (Once you confirm your country and committee assignment with your team advisor you can start researching!)
  2. Google your Member State (country assignment)- its important to start by learning the basic facts of your Member State, what is it's official name, what region is it in, what type of government, search through its official government websites for news!
  3. Read your committee's Background Guide!  This is very important as your directors have researched the topics your committee will covering at TSMUN and provided you comprehensive explanations and links to all the work the United Nations is already doing - this a great resource for your to use in your position paper and in your committee's Resolutions.
  4. Start your Position Paper early! Review the TSMUN Position Paper Requirements and Sample Position Papers to learn how we score for awards during conference. (Ask your advisor to reach out to our staff about having your paper blind reviewed before the position paper deadline on February 3rd!)
  5. Use your team! Work with your MUN team or advisor to edit each others position papers and discuss your Member State together. Model UN is all about cooperation & learning - so plan a time a to quiz each other, watch MUN prep videos, watch introduction to the United Nations videos, or just share what you learned while researching!
  6. Submit your Position Papers by 11:59pm on February 3rd, 2023 to PositionPapers@tsmun.org ! Include your Member State Name, School Name and Committee in the subject line.

Email your Committee Directors with any questions or contact our Secretary General (SG@TSMUN.org) to set up a school meeting or with other conference concerns!
