SDG 5 - Gender EqualitySustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 - Gender Equality is one of the 17 goals established by the United Nations with the desire to meet these goals by the year 2030. Each goal focuses on different subjects ranging from zero hunger to responsible consumption.
SDG 5 - Gender Equality focuses on increasing the equality of women and girls across the world. It is important to acknowledge this issue as it undermines half of our world's population and therefore demeans the potential of our species globally. The goal has seven targets that are as follows: 1.) End Discrimination Against Women and Girls 2.) End All Violence Against and Exploitation of Women and Girls 3.) Eliminate Forced Marriages and Genital Mutilation 4.) Value Unpaid Care and Promote Shared Domestic Responsibilities 5.) Ensure Full Participation in Leadership and Decision-Making 6.) Universal Access to Reproductive Health and Rights 7.) Equal Rights to Economic Resources, Property Ownership and Financial Services The committee topics will range within these targets and discuss most of them. |
